The pre-construction phase will primarily consist of potholing and is current scheduled to run will run through September and October 2016. Potholing is digging small excavations into the ground to gain a better understanding of what lies beneath the surface of where the planned pipeline will be placed. This helps in determine various geological elements as well as avoid active or inactive gas, power and other utility infrastructure as well discover anything of archaeological significance.
The information obtained from the potholing will vital to the installation phase of the main pipeline. As the digs are very small and constrained to a small area, traffic impacts are predicted to be minimal.
